Marriott Library Collection Development
Subscriptions Ordered January-December 2000

During 2000 we were able to order more new journals than we had in many years. This was made possible by our continuing vigilance in cancelling titles which seem poor value for money, by support from the University, and by legislative funding for cooperative purchases by the Utah Academic Libraries Consortium. Although donor money can not easily be used for ongoing expenses, the generous support of donors for the Browsing Collection, the Kito business collection and the Ski Archives makes it possible for us to assume the small expense of buying periodicals for those collections.

This list includes subscriptions to paper and electronic periodicals, indexes, and databases. They are arranged by very broad subjects essentially the colleges on lower campus. Law and health science titles aren't included although campus wide licences for e-journals make distinctions between the Marriott, Eccles, and Quinney collections blurrier. Not every title which came as part of a larger package is listed, and we can't put an exact price on each title in a package. We haven't listed periodicals whose text is included within general purpose indexes like Academic Search Elite or Academic Universe, even though these indexes give us indirect access to thousands of magazines and newspapers.
